We had our August meeting once again in person at the Red Barn in Abingdon.
OLD BUSINESS: 1) Our July meeting was on single recipe, different yeasts. We had one of the most interesting discussions as all beers were different.
2) Please sign up for helping with the Friendship Beer Fest on October 2nd. We could use another Jockey Box and a few more kegs to rotate through. We are thinking about reaching out to AleCraft to see if they would sponsor us with their Jockey Box and we could advertise their store via stickers.
3) Our Christmas Party will be on Friday December 3rd at 6PM.
4) Next LABS meeting will be hosted by Marc on weizenbocks on 9/17. Utopias project is ongoing.
NEW BUSINESS: 1) We voted on our Christmas beer between an Imperial Porter and Dark Strong and the Imperial Porter won. We had a discussion whether to make it spiced vs. spiced AND fruited (cranberries were an option). We will have a poll on Slack to help us decide. Please consider submitting recipes and ideas as we have to brew this beer soon.

2) We will have a Club Picnic on Saturday October 9th right at the Barn in Abingdon. It’ll be for members and their families, not for prospective members. We will pay for food and may ask for sides/desserts as we draw closer to the date. We may also use some portable grills if anyone can bring any.
3) Next month’s style is Marzen, Octoberfest, Festbier. We discussed the style and expectations.
4) We are thinking about purchasing T-shirts with our logo and have included T-shirt sizes on our sign-in sheet this evening. Volunteers for Friendship Fest will get a free T-shirt to wear that day. Otherwise, they will be available for purchase or for raffles.
5) October has 3 major events for the Club: Friendship Fest on 10/2, our Picnic on 10/9 and our monthly meeting on 10/13. There was a discussion regarding combining the monthly meeting with the Picnic. Alternatively, those who cannot come on our regular meeting of 10/13, may have the option of bringing their Dubbel at the Picnic. There will be a Poll on Slack to gauge members’ preference.
