We had our June meeting once again in person at the Red Barn in Abingdon.
OLD BUSINESS: 1) Our May meeting was on Mexican Lagers.
2) The Guild is back up and running. We need volunteers to attend their meetings. They had the annual picnic last weekend but we didn’t know about it and none of us attended.
3) Next years’s May style will be IPL.
4) Gregg and Chris hosted a meeting on Flanders Reds.
5) Gregg and Dave H did a beer hike on the Appalachian Trail; they left with 25 beers, hiked 20 miles and came back with one beer unopened.
NEW BUSINESS: 1) Next LABS meeting is at Kelly’s on Oud Bruins on 6/25.
2) We are reducing Tech Corners to 1/month and may use those dates for socials instead, sporadically. The next one is on 6/17/21 at 8PM. The topic will be hop extracts vs. regular hops.
3) July project is “single recipe, different variable”. The recipe is Citra Smash posted by Ken on Slack. We will all use the same recipe in terms of grains and hops, only changing the yeast. There is already a discussion on Slack regarding which yeasts are being used so we can have plenty of variety.
4) Our next social is likely to be at Hopkins Farms on a week-night.
5) The Board wanted to gauge interest in a beer tour that the club could partly sponsor. We took a quick vote and, out of the members in attendance, 14 would attend and 3 of those would like to bring a guest/spouse.
