OLD BUSINESS: 1) Our September meeting was Festbier/Marzen and we had a successful night with many beers on style.
2) The Friendship Beer Fest on October 2nd was a great success for getting our name out there and for community outreach. We served over 40 gallons of beer and we easily out-served the other vendors. We had great feedback from the people getting our beers and long lines for our booth. We may consider bringing our own glasses next year. Thank you to all who brewed, served, shared their beers, helped set-up and clean-up! The owner of Friendship is looking for a head brewer :)
3) Libations Cookout was on Saturday and we had a great day with about 30 people coming! All food came out well, the venue worked beautifully and we lucked out with the weather.
4) Marc’s LABS meeting on weizenbocks was on 9/17 and it was a good night. Gregg will host all Lambics on 11/12.
A Roman walks into a bar, sticks two fingers up to the barman and says,
"Five beers please."
NEW BUSINESS: 1) We now have Libations T-shirts ($13). Talk to Marc for orders (he has just placed another order for X-LG).
2) Christmas Beer will be brewed at George; it’ll be an Imperial Porter with Bourbon and Vanilla. We need volunteers to help and later for kegging/bottling as well. We purchased all ingredients and the starter is going. For the bottling stage, if everyone could bring 1-2 bombers, we could avoid purchasing bottles.
3) Ken will be the head-brewer for Fallston Barrel House, one of the reasons he will be busy next year and won’t run for President anymore. Nominations: Adi and Linda offered to keep their posts of VP and Secretary respectively. Marc was nominated for President, Art for Treasurer and they both accepted. Since every position has only one candidate, we will not have ballots in November, just an open vote.
4) Next month is for Wine, Mead, N/A, Seltzers, Ciders. It is the best night of the year to consider Uber :)
5) We voted for September 2022 style and West Coast IPA won. We voted for October 2022 and Belgian Triple won.
FINANCIAL REPORT: we have $264.68 and 29 paying members. This is our lowest balance. We have had some recent expenses: the insurance (once again, if 80% of the club are AHA members, then we get this insurance for free-check our website for a link to become AHA members and designate our club as yours), the T-shirts, the cookout. We hope the T-shirt sales, the December raffle and the renewal of dues will bring our balance up.
BEERS: The style was Belgian Dubble. The club provided 3 commercial examples. Adi/Linda, Claire/Art, Gregg, Matt, Chris, Dave and Marc brought homebrew on style. For Homebrew off style: Colin had an Oktoberfest, Kelly had a Triple and a Weizendoppleboch; our guest William brought 3 beers: a Strawberry IPA, a black IPA and a bourbon Porter. Ken brought his Imperial Red Rye IPA he served at Friendship. Joe had a Pale ale and George had an IPA that he could not remember any details about. Steve shared a commercial example of a Triple. Leaving before they could present: Chris with his Hazy IPA and Joe Roden with his Belgian Strong. Overall, this was the evening with the most beers presented for a total of 23 combination commercials/homebrew.
See you in October and Happy Brewing! Cheers!
