January 2021 Meeting Minutes

We had our January meeting on Zoom this year with a previously arranged Beer exchange for Porter, our style of the month!

For the social portion, Matt let us know that Ronnie’s beer selection is dwindling. Ken wanted to thank his board for all the hard work :)

OLD BUSINESS: 1) Please pay your Dues! They are officially past due now that we’re in January. Don’t have Marc start calling you and sending reminders. We accept PayPal (see our website) or checks.

2) The last Tech Corner was on Scottish Ales, the style that is due in March! Our next one is on 1/21/21 and the following is 2/4/21. We are always looking for ideas on topics.

3) LABS’ next hosts will be Adi and Linda for the Tripel Karmeliet. Because of the Pandemic, they are hoping for a day-time meeting outdoors on their deck, sometime in mid-March. They will post on Slack once a date is picked.

4) The bottle exchange for Porter went very well! We were safe and efficient. Thank you Marc for hosting it!

5) Our Christmas Party was on Zoom with an auction that brought in $123 for the club.

NEW BUSINESS: Style of the month for January 2022 was voted to be Schwarzbier after 2 rounds of voting. This was proposed by Mike and picked out of Dark Mild, Cranberry Ginger Gose, W-Coast IPA, Winter Warmer, Barleywine and Belgian Dark Strong.

FINANCIAL REPORT: we have $1,283 in the bank, $112 in cash and 24 paying members.

WEBSITE REPORT: We renewed our domain for 5 years until 2026! Adi has also posted the past 3 Christmas Beer Recipes on our website.

BEERS: We had a great showing of Porters: commercial versions of Baltic, British, American Porters. For Homebrew, we had Marc/Mike with a German Porter (reminiscent of a Baltic porter but lower ABV), Matt, and Adi/Linda with traditional Baltic Porters. Myke had a British porter, Art/Claire, Dave H. had American Porters. Kelly, John, Chris and Ken made flavored porters.

Happy New Year, Happy Brewing and stay safe! Cheers!
