OLD BUSINESS: 1) HomeBrewcon: quite a few members attended it in Pittsburgh last month, great event, well executed. Lots of info, several seminars worth checking out. Good beer, great city. Next year in San Diego.
2) AleCraft HomeBrew Social: Marc attended on Friday, beer was good, short meeting about 1 hour. This is for people interested in brewing but not ready for the club. Fridays at 7PM.
NEW BUSINESS: 1) August Social: thinking about something further out of town. Thinking about the York branch of South County but may be too far on a weeknight. Also thinking Racers in Baltimore County.
2) We’ve set up some dates for the upcoming year: our Libations Cookout will be 9/17 at the Barn ~12-5PM for members and their families including kids. Our mid-year raffle will happen then. We’ll send out requests for help and sign-up. We’re still hoping to have 2 beers on tap. Our Christmas Party will be Friday 12/2 at the Barn for members, guests, family members all being 21y.o. and over.
3) The next class at AleCraft is on Recipe Design in August and Art will teach a water chemistry class in November. If anyone is interested in a topic to teach or learn more about, let us know. Sign up for these classes with AleCraft ($25).
4) Meetings in August and October need to be moved from Wednesday. This is due to our space being bumped to the HOA board. We were told committees take priority. We had a discussion about options. We voted about changing meetings to Thursdays instead of Wednesdays moving forward. If anyone has other suggestions, let us know but we are moving forward with the change for now.
5) Board Meetings open to 1 member to join/month. Next one in August is still slated to Matt, who could not attend previously.
6) LABS: coming up in July at Matt’s on British Mild. People attending have to brew the style or been in a collaboration.
7) Marc can do a full water test via ITS. If you are interested, let him know; let your tap run for a few minutes before filling the bottle. No charge.
8) Guild Meeting on Monday: good group of clubs in MD. Have a lot going on. Guild Holiday party is Saturday 12/3 at 6PM at Arbutus Community Association. Looking for volunteers, can set up a table. Will bring up again to gauge interest next month.
FINANCIAL REPORT: $140 cash and $854.75 in bank account. Yearly insurance coming up. Members not associated to AHA: consider subscribing as it helps our club out. Many benefits to becoming a member. Please use our link for joining.
EVENTS: many are from the Guild so check out those minutes. August: MashOut in Cumberland: camping and brewing, let Marc know if interested; he wants to go but not by himself. 9/24 HomeStead at UnionMills. State Fair with 7/31st deadline for entry. Judging on 8/21st. We took a vote to submit Shroedinger’s Cup in the competition: club will pay the fees for submission: vote passed. Williamsburg Ales Through the Ages in November 11-13: 3 days in colonial Williamsburg with seminars on beer history. 8/19-21 Max’s have their Hop Fest. Slate Farm had to reschedule their Sour Fest due to weather.
MINI-TECH CORNER: none this month; please let us know if you have suggestions for the future and we can research the subject. September style is W Coast IPA and August Tech Corner will be on it.
BEERS: This was Farmhouse/Saison. We had 5 beers on style from Art/Claire, Kelly, Linda/Adi, Marc/Mike, Ken. Alan brought a Witbier and a Strong Blonde, our guest Corey brought a Sour. There were 2 Pale Ales from Nick and Will, an IPA from Matt, and Marc brought back the White Stout.
See you in August! Cheers!
